OUR YOUTH NEED HELPToday’s teenagers are growing up in a tough world. Over half of our youth live with a single parent, many below "poverty level". Many youth are children of addicted parents. About 20% of our youth have been abused. Many youth have incarcerated parents or parents who have lost custody of their children. Many of these children suffer from the stressors of a chaotic environment and the lack of supervision and nurturing. Native families are also impacted by historical trauma, conflicts between reservation and urban lifestyles. Youth demonstrate their need for counseling through behaviors like truancy, academic failure, acting out, oppositional/violent behavior, gang identification/participation, alcohol and other drug abuse, eating disorders, depression, accidental death and suicide. NDNS4Wellness counselors have not only the skills, but the heart to walk with adolescents as they journey toward the adult years. Our staff uses an integrated best practice and culturally respectful model which assist youth in learning the skills necessary to assist them in making wise choices. Traditional practitioners work closely with counselors providing insight and traditional ceremonies which help troubled youth heal from traumas and loss, empowering them to walk the RED ROAD into a more satisfying, successful future. CRITICAL GOALS
OUR COUNSELORSOur counselors meet the state and national certification and licensure requirements.
